Six Killed As Boko Haram Attacks Adamawa State |FortNews

Gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram have killed six people and injured some others in Adamawa State.

The incident occurred about 2 am yesterday in Mildo, east of Gulak in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State close to the Cameroon border.

The Adamawa State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Ahmed Sajoh told newsmen at the launching of Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) feed finishing project yesterday that the attackers also destroyed some properties.

Sajoh said, “Six people lost their lives in the attack. Some houses and shops were burnt down by the insurgents. The military were able to kill one of the suspected terrorists.”

He added that Army and Police personnel as well as vigilantes and hunters had taken over the town even as most of the people in the affected community had  dispersed to neighboring villages.

He said the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA) had gone to see what intervention was necessary but that because the people did not run to one place, nothing like a camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs) had been identified.

“We are still looking at the situation to see where most of the people have gone to and to see the kind of intervention we are going to make,” he said.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Ahmadu Waziri, confirmed the attack and urged the Federal Government to make sure the insurgents were captured.

“These terrorists should not keep coming. Today is Mildo and tomorrow could be somewhere else,” he said.

When contacted, Major Badare Akintoye, the Army Public Relations Officer of the 28 Task Force in Mubi, promised to get the details and get back to our reporter.
