The explosions occured around Muna garage area on Sunday evening.

Channels TV confirmed the attack from the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).

According to the SEMA official, the first explosion was carried out by a suicide bomber, who blew himself up.

The second was detonated by the Police Anti-Bomb Squad after the other suicide bomber, who also died, failed to detonate his.

Earlier in the day, the Police command in Borno state confirmed a blast in the same area.

According to the command’s spokesperson, Mr Victor Isuku Saud, preliminary information suggested that an explosion occured at Garki Muna which is in the outskirts of Maiduguri.

The northeast has been on high alert following warnings by the military and traditional rulers notifying residents of likely attacks by remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists group.

Reports say people are now more cautious, as they carry on their daily activities watching out for terrorist elements around them.

The Nigerian Army on the other hand, has warned the general public to be more vigilante as the insurgents seem to have started employing a new method of attacks.

In a statement by the Deputy Director Army Public Relations, 7 Division, Colonel Mustapha Anka, the force revealed that the terrorists now knock on doors of homes, in order to launch direct attacks.
